Piano pop/rock band The Fray are one of the biggest acts out today. Emerging from Denver, CO, the four-piece group is a collaborative effort by Isaac Slade with Joe King, Ben Wysocki and Dave Welsh. Since their formation in 2001, the band has been blessed with an incredible amount of success. In 2005, their debut album
How To Save A Life went double platinum with singles "Over My Head (Cable Car)" and "How To Save A Life" bringing them to the forefront of mainstream music. The record even got them Grammy nominations for Best Pop Performance and Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group.
In 2009, the band released the second album, self-titled
The Fray and instantly hit number one on the Billboard charts. Since it's release The Fray achieved two more Grammy nominations and other accolades. But with all the well-deserved successes, They Fray has sought to ensure that others have the same opportunities they were given.
The Fray are true lovers of music. Their passion has taken them on an incredible journey, so it is only right that there would be a desire to help and encourage other inspiring musicians develop in their career. In 2009, the band has partnered with MusiCares to put together a charity concert to raise funds and awareness about the organization's goals. MusiCares is an arm of The Grammys which provides assistance and relief to those in the music community in times of need. They offer a wide range of financial support to musicians in financial, medical and personal emergencies. The Fray has also partnered with VH1 Saves The Music, which advocates and supports instrumental music programs in schools and other educational institutions. And the band continues to this day to find ways to support those as passionate about music as themselves.
But the band's passion for young artists are not their only interest in supporting. After the earthquake that devastated the country of Haiti, some of the most well-respected and successful musicians and entertainers came together to pledge their support in the relief efforts. Assembled by the great Quincy Jones and Lionel Richie, The Fray's frontman Isaac Slade was invited to join the group of artists in celebrating the 25 year anniversary of the song "We Are The World" and record a new version of the song to raise money for Haiti's recovery.
The songs they write and the lives they live reveal that The Fray are a band passionate about the music they make and the people around them. They have already impacted many with their music and generosity and as their journey continues we can online imagine this is the just the beginning of an amazing career.
