Louie Psihoyos is the co-founder of The Oceanic Preservation Society (OPS), a non-profit headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, that he started in 2005. OPS educates people on the importance of the ocean and inspires individuals to take action to protect one of our most critical natural resources.
As a National Geographic photographer for 18 years, Louie has worked to capture the beauty and destruction of the ocean, and his images has been seen by people around the world. He took his creativity and desire to motivate change a step further by directing The Cove, which won him a Sundance Film Festival Audience Award and the Academy Award for Best Documentary.
The Cove, is a riveting and thrilling documentary about a team of activists, filmmakers and divers on mission to penetrate a remote cove in Japan where thousands of dolphins are slaughtered each year. The film has shocked audiences and inspired them to action. You can do the same by seeing the film and supporting the OPS.
Actor and Activist, Fisher Stevens produced The Cove along with Paula DuPre Pesmen, whose film credits include three Harry Potter movies.
